About Kannur University

Shaping Futures

Through Quality Education

Kannur University was established under Act 22 of 1996 by the Kerala Legislative Assembly. It originated as "Malabar University" in 1995 and was inaugurated on 2nd March 1996 by the then Chief Minister Sri. A.K Antony, with the objective of promoting higher education in Kasargod, Kannur, and Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District. Kannur University is a multi-campus institution with campuses across Kannur, Kasaragod, Nileswaram, Mangattuparamba, Mananthavady, Payyannur, and Thalassery, established to provide study and research facilities and promote advanced knowledge in science, technology, and other disciplines.
