The Centre for Quantum Computing. Quantum Computing (QC) is a rapidly emerging new scientific field. It opens up new possibilities in computing, communication, and remote sensing, surpassing classical computing and even supercomputers. Along with research, healthcare, business, governance, and security, it will create significant opportunities in restructuring computational algorithms, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques, with enhanced research support, technological collaboration, development of skilled professionals, and reorganization of intellectual property domains.

Kannur University is preparing to establish the "Centre for Quantum Computing" in collaboration with the Departments of Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, and Social Sciences. A detailed scientific proposal worth ₹37.74 crore has been prepared to establish the Centre at Kannur University in association with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bengaluru, IIT Madras, and Chennai institutions. Efforts are ongoing under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor to secure financial assistance from the Central Government. As part of this initiative, discussions were held with the Honorable Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
